Frequently Asked Questions

Our Locations

 - Where are your classes located?

We currently run our weekly Term Classes in Ellenbrook (Ellenbrook Library) and Currambine (Currambine Community Centre) which are all open to the public.
During the School Holidays, we tend to experiment with various locations around Perth,  which are announced on our Facebook page and right here

We're always on the hunt to grow into other areas - feel free to fill out our survey to tell us where you'd like to see us next!

 - Do you run classes at other locations for private functions or other organisations/schools?

We do offer private classes that can be ran on-demand and to specific requirements. Please send us an email here or message us on facebook to discuss your needs.

The Class

- What ages do you take in your classes?

All of our attendees (Ninjas) will need to be able to play Minecraft independently, and be able to respect other Ninjas builds. With this in mind, we typically say that 7 to 16 year old's are suitable, but can accept 6 and above if you believe your child falls into our above guideline.

- Do parents need to stay?

Not at all, however parents are more than welcome to stay and check out the action!

- Are your staff qualified to look after our child?

All our Club Sensei are well experienced in teaching & educating children. Our Club Sensei and Team Leaders are also equipped with current Working With Children Cards as required by the Australian Government.

- Does my child need their own device to play?

If you're joining our Holiday Program, everything is provided for you to connect to our world!

For those on our Term Programs, we strongly suggest that Ninjas bring their own device to play, as there are many benefits of having access to this at the class & at home. Most computers utilised in the school environment (laptops) are suitable for use.
If your child doesn't have a Laptop - no stress! You can opt in to use one of our loan devices during the sign up process.

 - Is this educational?

167% Yes! Minecraft is educational, providing support and skills in both Literacy and Numeracy, whilst building skills for co-operation and critical thinking.

 - Do you provide any sort of food?

Ninjas are required to bring their own food/snack food (if required) as there are many dietary requirements to be able to cater for.

 - What's included in the Welcome Packs?

Each Welcome Pack will include an introductory handbook to the game, with tips on how to improve the Ninjas gameplay, as well as the beginning of our Challenges Guide. We also provide Lanyards for all our members with their rank, who over time will earn their way up to higher ranks with better rewards!
Everyone who joins in one of our classes will receive a welcome pack. Replacement packs are $5 if lost.

The Game

 - What version of Minecraft do you use?

 Contrary to belief, there is more than one version of Minecraft! The main versions used are;

  • Minecraft - Java Edition (Available on Windows/Mac/Linux PC's)
  • Minecraft - Bedrock/Pocket Edition (Available on mobile devices, consoles and Windows 10)
  • Minecraft - Education edition (used primarily in schools)

We run on the Minecraft Java Edition, for a couple of reasons;

  1. The Bedrock/Pocket edition limits the potential of what we call 'Modding', which allows us further customization of the worlds and also allows us to add parental controls. Java allows us full control of how large/advanced we can go, and has arguably better controls to do so!
  2. The Java Edition allows you to do everything you'll ever want with one upfront price, where the Bedrock/Pocket editions have in-game purchases that really can add up over time!
  3. Java Edition is typically updated more often & before other all the other editions (especially the Education Edition!)
  4. Java (& Bedrock) have the ability to host a server via the internet, so that people can connect to it 24/7 and not just in face-to-face settings!

Unfortunately each version of Minecraft is not compatible with each other at this time, which means we can't connect iPads/Tablets to our Minecraft World.  We find that children who have experience with Minecraft on other platforms can easily pick up the game on PC given their knowledge of the game. The same also applies vice versa!

 - Does my child (Ninja) need their own Minecraft account?

To get the most from our Club and particularly after the session ends, we recommend each of our Ninjas have their own Mojang/Microsoft Account. The CraftDojo server is available 24/7 which allows Ninjas to continue builds after their class. We do have a limited amount of spare accounts they can use for the session, but anything they build, create or win will not be accessible afterwards.

If you need to buy/create an account, it is easily done so using this link. Alternatively, we can provide you a registration code by purchasing it through us upon signup.

Note that Playstation/Xbox/iPad/Tablet accounts are different to the Mojang/Microsoft Accounts that are utilized within our Minecraft World.

Payments/Refunds

 - How do I make a payment?

You can book & pay for each class directly online using Visa/Mastercard/AMEX. As a part of our commitment to the safety, health & well-being of our staff and Ninjas, we do not accept cash in our venues.

 - Do we have to pay for the term upfront?

Not at all! We offer flexible monthly membership options. Check out our Membership Page for more details.

 - Can I claim your classes with the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS)?

Whilst we have not been officially told that we are eligible, we have had multiple members sign up to our classes that have been funded by their NDIS plan-managed provider. You would need to confirm with your plan provider to ensure that they can facilitate our class for your child prior to commencement. We will issue you with an receipt upon payment, however for Full Term programs we can invoice upfront directly to your provider - just email us here to ask for this option.

For those who are funded and managed directly under the NDIA, we are unable to recover costs directly with the NDIA as we are not a registered NDIS provider. You will be responsible for all payments unless otherwise directed.

 - What happens if I want to cancel my Membership?

We don't lock anyone into contracts, so Members can cancel their Membership payments at anytime. Once the membership is cancelled, you will no longer be charged for future months, and your membership will be valid for the remainder of that month. We do not refund monies already paid for unused periods of membership, unless otherwise communicated.

 - Do you offer refunds?

Please note that we do not provide refunds, unless required to do so under Australian Consumer Law.

If you have purchased a Holiday Class, but can no longer attend - we will happily offer you a credit towards our next class with prior notice. Please contact us below to activate this.

Attendees to our Programs not booked and paid for via craftdojo.com.au will need to contact the event organizer directly to find out the respective Terms & Conditions.
